Terms of Use

Last updated: 15 August 2026

By using plugpath.docsanddeadlines.com ("this site"), you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

What this site is

PlugPath publishes general reference material about charging an electric vehicle in the United States: how home charging equipment is sized and permitted, what the National Electrical Code and local inspection practice require, what state right-to-charge statutes give owners and tenants, how public charging networks structure their pricing, and how cold weather and battery age affect what you get out of a charge. Its method is to name the source — a code article, a statute, a utility tariff sheet, a manufacturer's warranty booklet — and show you how to read it against your own situation.

It is a reference, not a service, and not a vendor. This site does not sell, install, specify, or commission charging equipment; it does not perform load calculations for you; it does not inspect, design, or approve anything; and it does not pass your details to installers, electricians, charging networks, or dealers. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any charger manufacturer, charging network, utility, automaker, or trade body, and it takes no referral fee, lead fee, or commission from any of them.

No professional advice

Content here is general information, not professional advice.

The author is not a licensed electrician, electrical contractor, electrical engineer, code official, or attorney, and nothing on this site is offered as electrical, engineering, legal, or financial advice. Reading this site, or contacting the author, creates no professional relationship of any kind.

In particular:

  • Nothing here is an instruction to perform electrical work. Descriptions of code articles, load calculations, breaker sizing, wiring methods, or inspection checklists are written so you can understand a quote, a permit application, or a correction notice — not so you can substitute for a licensed electrician. Electrical work carries a risk of fire, electrocution, and death, and in most jurisdictions it also requires a permit and a licensed installer.
  • The authority having jurisdiction decides. The National Electrical Code is a model standard. What binds you is the edition your state or city has adopted, plus local amendments, plus the interpretation of the inspector who signs off on your job. Where this site describes a code article, it describes the model text — your local rule may differ.
  • Nothing here interprets your lease, your HOA's governing documents, or your state's statutes for your situation. Right-to-charge laws differ by state, apply differently to owners and to tenants, and are frequently amended.

Accuracy and currency

Guides are researched against official sources and dated on publication. Even so:

  • Charging network pricing changes without notice, differs by station and by state, and is often different again for members than for casual users. Where a page discusses cost, it shows you where the current price is displayed rather than quoting a number as if it were fixed.
  • Utility EV and time-of-use rate schedules change on the utility's own filing calendar, and the hours defining "off-peak" move with them.
  • State right-to-charge statutes, and the code edition adopted in your jurisdiction, are amended from year to year.
  • Vehicle software updates change charging behaviour, preconditioning, and the numbers your car reports.
  • A guide reflects the situation at the date shown on it, not necessarily today.
  • Errors happen.

No warranty is given that content is accurate, complete, or current. If you find something wrong, please report it via the contact page — corrections are made promptly.

Limitation of liability
